THE AGE OF REASON / ENLIGHTENMENT

The Age of Reason and the Age of Enlightenment were movements of intellectual curiosity that occurred in the 17th and 18th centuries in Europe and America. Many of the intellectual processes that occurred in this time period countered church doctrine and ideas that had been thought of as true for centuries before the movement occurred. During the Age of Reason, the advancements of science became associated with the advancement of countries. As a result, the separation of church and state occurred in many governmental systems during this time period. Immanuel Kant summarized the motivation of the Enlightenment with the short phrase, "Dare to Know."

NOTE: Dates on the time are as accurate as possible. Most dates only gave the year so all the dates have january 1st with them which is incorrect!
